Who moved in this week?
We’ve had a very busy week for new tenants moving in and it’s what we love doing in the office. We enjoy talking to people to see if we can help them with their accommodation needs. We can’t always - but sometimes we can refer on to different organisations. Here are just some of the stories from this week.
P has split up from his partner and needed somewhere quickly. He works out of the area usually so that made things difficult for him. After a long chat to him on the phone we were able to move things quickly as we had the perfect vacancy for him - a fully furnished 2 bed flat. We were able to check his employment status, verify his ID and check his financial and credit history amongst other things. We were able to offer him a tenancy which was signed electronically and he got the keys and moved in later that day.
D had moved to the area to be closer to his family and was sleeping in his nephew’s very small bed. He is working part time and thought he would struggle with rent. After a chat with our benefit expert, he found out that he could claim for Universal Credit alongside his employment. This includes help with accommodation costs and any help is depending on his monthly earnings. He has claimed an advance from UC which has paid his bond and first month's rent. He will pay this back over 2 years. He has now moved into our shared house and is over the moon. He is looking to get a full time job in the near future.
E has moved to the area for a job as a scientist on the Wilton Site. He has been staying on his friend’s sofa while he looks for something suitable. He saw our advert on Spare Room and after some provisional checks we were able to meet him for a viewing. He was delighted with the house and met some of the other tenants at the same time. He said how pleased he was with our process. He has now completed the full referencing and signed his tenancy paperwork.
We’ve had other people move in this week too and have referred others to the housing teams in Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough.
